Installing Blender Bridge
What to download, what to install separately, and what to do about the Windows warning.
Order of installation
- Install Blender from blender.org if you do not have it.
- Download the Blender Bridge installer and run it.
- Open the application and sign in. Sign-in opens in your browser.
- Press Install add-on. The add-on appears in Blender the next time you start it.
- Choose how to connect: the browser extension or MCP.
The Windows unknown publisher warning
Windows will warn that the publisher of the installer is unknown. The certificate that removes that warning costs money a project this young does not have. The warning is about our paperwork, not about the contents of the file.
To continue, choose More info → Run anyway. As the number of installations grows, the warning fades on its own.
What gets installed
- The Blender Bridge application — holds the connection and shows its state.
- The Blender add-on — receives commands inside Blender.
- The MCP server — in case you choose that way to connect.
Frequently asked questions
I pressed Install add-on but it is not in Blender.
Blender reads its add-on list at startup. If it was open during installation, close and reopen it — the add-on will be there.
I have several Blender versions. Which one is used?
The one named in the application's settings under Blender version. You can change it there if the application picked the wrong one.
My Blender is from Steam, or it is a portable build.
If the application did not find it by itself, set the path by hand through the same Blender version row in settings.
My antivirus or Windows blocked the installer.
The installer has no paid publisher certificate, and that is the only reason. Choose More info → Run anyway. If a third-party antivirus stepped in, add the file to its exclusions.
Is there a macOS or Linux version?
Not yet; Windows is supported. Others follow demand.
