Connecting through the browser extension

For people already chatting with an AI in a browser. The panel appears inside the chat.

What the extension does

The extension adds a small panel to the AI web chat you already use. When the assistant answers with Blender Python, a run button appears in the panel. Press it and the code runs in your Blender.

Optionally the result goes back to the chat as a screenshot of the viewport, so the assistant sees what it made. From then on the conversation is about the real result rather than a guess.

Setup, step by step

  1. Install and open the Blender Bridge application, then sign in.
  2. Press Install add-on and restart Blender.
  3. Install the Blender Bridge extension in your browser.
  4. Open an AI web chat. The extension recognises the page and shows the panel.
  5. Tell the assistant what to build in Blender. When the answer contains code, press run.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see the code before it runs?
Yes, and that is the main difference of this door. The code is visible in full in the assistant's answer, and it only runs after you press run. Nothing happens on its own.
Will the extension keep working if the chat changes its layout?
The extension is not tied to particular websites and keeps no list of addresses: it recognises a chat by the structure of the page. A small redesign does not break it, and it also works on a chat it has never seen.
The panel did not appear in the chat.
Three causes, by frequency: the page was not reloaded after installing the extension; the Blender Bridge application is closed; you are not signed in. All three take a minute to check, and it is almost always one of them.
Can the extension read my conversation?
The extension reads the chat page in order to find code and show the panel. Nothing from your conversation is sent to us — neither whole nor in fragments.
